Leeds Tykes RUFC

We announced that local NCA clubs will join forces with Leeds based travel company, Ventur to organise their own tournament. Unfortunately, three of the original teams have pulled out; we totally respect their decision.

Leeds Tykes will still be competing in the Ventur Cup where we will be joined by Hull Ionians and Leeds Beckett.

After more than a year without playing, the Ventur Cup is a wonderful opportunity for players, coaches and supporters to have a measured, gradual return to rugby under the modified rules.
 
All matches will be played on Saturdays, kicking-off at 15:00. Details for fans will be published on 30 April.

Preparing for the future
Phil Davies, Leeds Tykes Director of Rugby said: “I am delighted that Hull Ionians and Leeds Beckett are joining us to play their part in kick-starting rugby in Yorkshire again. I’m sure their supporters and fans, like ours, are itching to enjoy watching some of the action. I’m looking forward to seeing faces old and new.

“I’m grateful for the support of our cup sponsors, Ventur, which is letting us lay the foundations of our Leeds Tykes’ culture. I also see the tournament as a pivotal part of our preparations for our 21/22 league season. I hope Hull Ionians and Leeds Beckett see the tournament as a pathway to NCA rugby.

“Our new squad is training three times a week and I’m very pleased that we’ve had an average 38 players available and attend each week, which shows the commitment from the players. Many thanks to Leeds Beckett University and Leeds University for providing talented students pathways to National League rugby union.”
