Phil Davies is pleased to announce that 12 players have been retained from last seasons squad and have signed for the 2021 season.
Recruitment and Retention Rationale
When the season came to a premature end in March we started carefully considering the clubs recruitment and retention process
Three key points we focussed on;
- Type of characteristics we wanted to build the club on
- It needed to be about local talent based or working in Leeds
- Balance between youth & experience
The retained players are:-
Jake Brady - Lock , excellent leader and will Captain the side this season , adds tremendous work rate and is a good decision maker both on & off the field
Dan Lancaster - Experienced head on young shoulders , did a great job last season at fly half or centre and has a bright future in the game
Andrew Lawson - Joined from Harrogate at start of 2019/20 season , Lawson is a winger with genuine ability to beat a man one on one and is a real strong team man with the club at heart
James Magee - Young winger who has bags of pace was unlucky with a few injuries last season another player with a bright future
Jack Metcalfe - Young centre with tremendous potential and versatility , can also play at full back or wing , a product of the WPL club junior section
Jacob Mounsey - Centre product of the academy system , a powerful ball carrier who will give us much needed power and go forward
Tobi Ademakin - Prop who came into the team in January 2020 from LBU Super league squad. Having converted from the back row through the Munster academy is one of our more outgoing characters and will add real power to the pack
Adam Brown - Academy graduate , hooker who has all the fundamentals to be a successful player of the future
Trystan Lloyd - Flanker who came to the club through the LBU system , great team man who brings a real physicality to the pack
Will Smith - Flanker , another young talented player with fantastic potential , his work rate and skill level is a stand out
Trae O'Sullivan - NO 8 , ex RL player who brings a strong ball carrying presence to the team , he is still learning his trade and has tremendous potential
Will Hill - Flanker , tremendous attitude and work rate , real threat at the defensive breakdown in defence
